Colour correction

When colour hasn't gone to plan

Every correction starts with a proper look at your hair and an honest plan, before we pick up a brush.

Brassy or warm tones

Warmth that's crept in since your last appointment, neutralised back to the cool or lived-in blonde you wanted.

Patchy or uneven colour

Bands, hot roots and uneven ends, blended into one soft, wearable colour.

Box colour or home dye

Colour you did yourself, or that didn't turn out as the box promised, worked back gently and safely.

A fresh start with a new colourist

Coming to Studio Kin Hair from somewhere else, we assess and plan before touching a single strand.

How it works

From first look to finished colour

A correction is a process, not a single appointment. Here's how we approach it.

  1. A woman booking a colour correction consultation on her phone in a Wellington cafe

    Book online

Tell us what's happened and what you're hoping for, through our online booking.

  2. A stylist examining a client's hair closely under natural light at Studio Kin Hair

    Consultation first

Mia or Jae look at your hair in person and plan the path back, before any colour is applied.

  3. A colourist carefully applying corrective colour in sections at a Cuba Street salon basin

    The correction

We work in stages, with the time a correction needs, checking tone as we go.

  4. A woman admiring her newly corrected blonde colour in a salon mirror

    Leave looking like you

Walk out with colour that's even, healthy and genuinely yours again.

Common questions

Questions about colour correction

How much does colour correction cost?

Correction pricing depends on your hair's current colour, condition and the result you want. We confirm a price at your consultation, once Mia or Jae has seen your hair in person.

How long does a colour correction take?

Longer than a standard colour appointment. Corrections often need more than one session, with time between to keep your hair healthy.

Will one appointment fix my colour?

Sometimes. More often we work in stages, so your hair stays in good condition between visits.

Do you fix box colour or colour from another salon?

Yes. Whatever's happened to your colour, we start with a proper look and an honest plan before any colour goes on.

Is the colour you use vegan?

Yes, all the colour we use is vegan and cruelty-free.

Can I book a correction online?

Yes, book your consultation through our online booking.

Still not sure where to start?

Call the studio or book a consultation online.
